Aluna Theatre is thrilled to present the SEVENTH edition of the RUTAS International Festival of Performance from September 24 to October 4, 2026, in partnership with Factory Theatre and Theatre Passe Muraille, with additional programming at Hart House Theatre. In addition to our programming, the RUTAS Festival is offering two workshops with world-class artists.
Workshop: Visual Theatre. The Poetry of Image and Gesture

This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn about La Llave Maestra’s creative working methodology and its distinctive theatrical language, which blends physical theatre, object and puppet theatre, dance and magic. Participants will be able to experience how La Llave Maestra approaches its creative work through movement, improvisation, and the creation of images—using the body, objects, and space—to create a visual poetry on stage capable of communicating without the need for text.

Workshop: Working with the Child Perspective

In this workshop, we take a hands-on approach in identifying what a child’s perspective could be —and to using it when working with theatre for children. Through exercises based on memories and experiences from our own childhoods, we gain insights into what can be made meaningful, and the opportunity to relate more directly to children and young people. How do we create narratives that move beyond clichés or ingrained assumptions, and instead speak more directly and honestly from the child’s point of view?
Drawing on the exercises Memories for Use, we explore ways of creating theatre from a child’s perspective, led by Unga Klara’s artistic director Gustav Deinoff.
