AUDITION NOTICE

This Feels Like The End

Performed at the 2024 Next Stage Festival at Buddies in Bad Times, October 16-27 2024. 

SYNOPSIS

One morning, all over the world, the sun doesn’t rise. Or the next morning. Or the next. Faith, folklore, and conspiracy all come to a head when five individuals, between Toronto and Finland’s far north, seek answers in a world that keeps spinning on… even after what feels like the end.

ENGAGEMENT POLICY/COMPENSATION

Engagement Policy for Equity members will be under the Festival Policy. 

Compensation for each actor will be $2062.5 for the rehearsal period (maximum 100 hours of regular rehearsal, likely not all actors called for full 100 hours); and Technical Rehearsal and Performances will be paid at $112.08 and $130.83 per event, (1 and 6 respectively), for a total actor fee of $2959.56

REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE DATES:

Three days a week (weekday daytimes) September 3rd 2024-October 11th, 2024

Tech Rehearsal: One day between October 8th-15th 2024 (to be scheduled by Next Stage Festival) 

Festival Dates: October 16th-27th 2024 (6 performances, to be scheduled by Next Stage Festival in advance of rehearsal dates) 

Please do not submit if you are not available to rehearse weekday daytimes (days of the week will be consistent), or if you are unavailable during festival dates. Performances may be scheduled as early as 4PM on a weekday, and 11AM on a weekend, during the festival dates. 

AUDITION INFORMATION 

We are accepting submissions from Equity AND Non-Equity performers. All are welcome to apply. Auditions will be held by self-tapes. In-Person callbacks will be scheduled on Monday, July 22nd or Tuesday July 23rd 2024. Please submit all audition materials through the following form:

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN AND AVAILABLE ROLES

The pronouns and ages listed are descriptions of the characters. Actors are welcome to express interest for any roles, regardless of gender or age. We encourage submissions from artists of all backgrounds, including gender non-conforming people, people of colour, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, people who are neurodiverse, people of all sexual orientations, and all others who face systematic marginalization. Please note the role of Emmi has been cast. 

ROLES (4)

ROBIN – she/her. Any ethnicity. Age 9 (submissions from adult actors are encouraged for this role). Any ethnicity. Robin is a precocious, highly anxious fourth grader, and Sandy’s daughter.

SANDY – she/her. Any ethnicity. Age 30-50. Sandy is a counselor working in Toronto, and mother to Robin.

ERIC- he/him. Any ethnicity. Age 30-50. Eric is a well-spoken, religious, highly intelligent man who believes the end of days is coming.

JAMIE– he/him. Any ethnicity. Age 20-25.  Jamie is a down-trodden university student in Toronto and boyfriend to Emmi.

EMMI- she/her. Any ethnicity. Age 20-25. She is a journalist and girlfriend to Jamie. PLEASE NOTE: This role has been cast, description for reference only.
