The Role
A Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for meeting the company’s volunteer needs and goals by following volunteer related processes and workflows; and recruiting, training, tracking and supervising volunteers. This is a vital position for Crane Creations offering an opportunity for developing leadership skills and communication.
Type of Engagement: Full time
Start Date: June 3 2025
End Date: July 26 2025
Compensation: $5,040 (18/hr)
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Update tracking and reporting documents
- Maintain an organized and up to date Volunteer folder and documents in it
- Plan, schedule, organize and conduct a monthly volunteer orientation session
- Recruit volunteers
- Review the job descriptions with Artistic and Managing Director;
- Inform volunteers about their assignment and provide any information that will help them settle in;
- Oversee and update automation workflow for volunteer management;
- Ensure Volunteers are informed about, and are following, company policies, workflows and training manuals;
- With assistance, handle conflicts and crises;
- Evaluate volunteers’ level of satisfaction concerning their tasks, support provided, work organization, interests and needs;
- Manage the volunteer services budget if the budget has been allocated
- Update the volunteering section of the organization’s website;
- Recognize the daily contributions of volunteers in social media;
- Organize activities to recognize volunteers within the organization.

This is a learning on the job role and will also entail the following requirements:
- watch videos of productions, acting exercises and other professional materials as required;
- with the help of a mentor learn how to evaluate professional theatre’s elements;
- participate in learning activities about professional companies (employers), funding bodies and grants;
- Complete delegated tasks such as research or reports or articles in a timely matter;
- discuss and debate elements of professional productions and acting techniques;
- learn how to write and edit a blogpost under supervision and mentorship;
- writing blog posts as required.
Requirements:
- Be available to work online and in person at our theatre (3650 Dixie Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Y 3V9) and studio (2359 Royal Windsor Drive Unit 210, Mississauga, ON L5J 4S9).
- Be available for all dates and hours stated in contract.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, have a PR, or refugee status.
- Be between 18 – 30 years of age.
Education and Experience:
- Experience and Education in Theatre is preferred, but not required.
