Expect Theatre welcomes back Marcia Johnson for a 9-week playwriting workshop open to emerging and experienced playwrights.
Do you have a great idea for a play but don’t know how to get it out of the idea stage? Have you gathered up information but don’t know how to transform it into drama? Marcia will help with that. The focus will be on story, dialogue and character development.
For this playwright unit, we are seeking writers from equity-seeking groups and underrepresented communities.
Deadline to apply: Friday September 13
Program Dates: Monday evenings, September 30 – December 9, 2024 (excluding October 14 and 28)
Classes will be mostly in-person with the possibility of a few online dates.
Each participant will receive a $300 honorarium to put towards their playwriting, such as research, dramaturgy, a future reading, etc.

- Your bio
- Up to 10 pages of a writing sample (does not have to be from your play idea)
No solo shows, please.
