About The Disability Collective:

The Disability Collective (TDC) is the only fully disability-led performing arts organization in Toronto. Dedicated to celebrating and showcasing work created solely by disabled artists, TDC strives to de-stigmatize disability and challenge perceptions of disability by providing disabled artists with paid opportunities to share their work in a variety of forms, along with actively advocating for and improving accessibility and inclusion in the Canadian arts community by providing disability consultation services. We are committed to strengthening the disability community’s presence in the arts and creating a space where disabled artists can connect and grow their practices together.

 

Position Overview:

The Disability Collective is seeking a passionate and innovative Marketing Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advancing TDC’s mission through strategic marketing initiatives, public relations, and community engagement. As the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance TDC’s visibility, reach, and impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to raise awareness for TDC and promote our year-round programming that aligns with our mission, vision, and goals. Identify target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistent and compelling branding across all communication channels. Uphold TDC’s brand identity and messaging in all marketing materials and initiatives.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging and accessible content for various platforms, including social media, website, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials. Collaborate with disabled artists to highlight their work and stories. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to create educational content about accessibility and disability, and to design content for our diverse programming.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage TDC’s online presence, including social media accounts, website, and email marketing. Develop and execute digital campaigns to drive engagement, increase followers, and promote events and programs.
  • Accessible Marketing: Ensure best practices for accessibility within web design, graphic design, and social media content. Continue to learn about ever evolving accessibility practices to ensure TDC’s content is inclusive and at the forefront of accessible communication standards.
  • Public Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers. Create and distribute press releases, pitch story ideas, and secure media coverage for TDC’s events and initiatives.
  • Event Promotion: Develop and execute marketing plans for TDC’s events, performances, and programs (approximately 10 events per year). Collaborate with Artistic and Managing Directors to ensure successful promotion and attendance.
  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with community organizations, partners, and stakeholders. Identify opportunities for collaboration and co-promotion to expand TDC’s reach and impact.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives. Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience with disability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, preferably within the arts, nonprofit, or disability sectors.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, and content creation.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience in public relations and media outreach.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to disability rights, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in marketing software and tools (e.g., social media management platforms, email marketing software, analytics tools).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and meetings.
