Two contrasting songs ( contemporary musical theatre/ 80’s pop) (32 Bar Cut)

Will be provided in the audition email. Will be in Toronto, TTC accessible.
REHEARSAL DATES:
- Starting September 8th 2024
- Sundays: 2pm-10pm
- Mondays: 6pm- 10pm
- Fridays 10am -4pm
- In October Fridays will be swapped with Tuesdays 6pm- 10pm
- Saturday November 2nd & November 3rd (TBD)

ABOUT THE SHOW:
A group of strangers try to find their Joy, with Joy at the ReJoyce Camp. In the middle of nowhere… where no one can hear you scream.
This show has everything! Comedy, Camp, being at a camp, Slasher horror, 80’s power ballads, SUNSHINE, aerobics, love, love bombing( what?), a crazy mystery woman, tons of JOY! and maybe….a cult.

- We are also open to some characters in drag. Please let us know if you are a drag performer.
- Names of the characters may be changed to represent backgrounds of the actors portraying them. (Example Jack /Jacques)
Joy (She/Her) Age: ANY Vocal type: Mezzo (Any ethnicity)
Joy, a former competitive gymnast turned motivational speaker and writer, is upbeat and sunny.Joy’s duality is the control she is able to hold while holding a bright smile on her face. She is spiritual, enchanting and ethereal. She is a joy!

Howard (He/Him) Age: ANY Vocal type: Baritone (Any ethnicity)
Howard, a rugged, former athlete, joined Joy’s group years ago after a career-ending injury and internal struggles with his sexuality. In another life he would have been happy just having a nice family with a cottage. Partnered with Simon by Joy, they’ve been together for five years.
Think: It’s giving gay lumberjack,
Simon (He/Him) Age: ANY Vocal type: Tenor A failed actor who dreamed of Broadway but lacked the talent, Simon turned to a hippy lifestyle.. Extremely loyal to Joy, Simon will do anything for her.
Think: Ncuti Gatwa
Cain (He/Him) Age: ANY Vocal type: Tenor (Any ethnicity)
A lovable jock dummy who wouldn’t hurt a fly, he is self-aware about his anger and frustrated by it.Determined to control his anger, Cain reads self-help books and attends Joy’s program.
Think: Troy from Community, Jason Mendoza from The Good Place
Raegan (She/Her) Age: ANY Vocal type: Mezzo (Any ethnicity)
A spoiled rich girl who rebels against the expectations of her family. She’s snarky, pushes boundaries, and has a comeback for everything.
Think: Krysten Alyce Ritter, Chanel from Scream Queens,
Desiree (She/Her) Age: ANY Vocal type: Mezzo (Any ethnicity)
Desiree is a semi- famous centerfold model, radiating allure and a sexy, confident charm. Struggling to define herself beyond her beauty and others’ approval.
Think: Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit),
Dante (He/Him) Age: ANY Vocal type: Tenor (Any ethnicity)
Dante is disheveled, sarcastic and self-destructive. He’s an intellectual and foodie. He becomes obsessive on knowing everything that he forgets to miss up and make real connections. But there is something likable about him. Think, that meme of Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where’s he’s at the board with yarn and and “clues”
Lily (She/Her) Age: ANY Vocal type: Soprano (Any ethnicity)
She is the epitome of the “all-American girl”: popular, a cheerleader, and always striving for others’ approval while secretly believing she’s superior to her peers. Despite her sometimes arrogant demeanor, she is fiercely loyal, willing to go to great lengths for those she loves.

MJ (She/Her) Age: ANY Vocal type: Alto (Any ethnicity)
MJ is a gifted burn out with a skater or alternative vibe. She’s a loner. MJ is nerdy and passionate about video games, sci-fi and movies. She lives in her parents’ basement, avoiding real-life responsibilities.
