AUDITION NOTICE: “Masque of the Red Death: An Immersive Cautionary Tale”
Show Summary:
In this immersive re-telling of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic tale, a wealthy company founder invites the ultra-rich to a lavish event, designed to shelter them from the devastation ravaging the outside world. But within the walls of this opulent “safe haven,” the entertainment – a cabaret of multi-disciplinary performers – exposes the greed and toxicity of wealth-hoarding at the expense of society. This provocative play production merges art, performance, and community to create a cautionary tale that invites the audience to make a decision about responsibility.
Audition Information:
Now seeking multi-disciplinary actors/performers with unique, bold skills who can embody the subversive energy of this piece. Ideal candidates will have a strong sense of presence, collaboration, musicality and the ability to engage directly with audience members in an immersive setting.
We encourage actors with skills in: Singing, dancing, burlesque, circus arts or other performance talents to apply.
Show Dates:
April 7-12, 2025 at The Assembly Theatre.
Requirements:
- Must be comfortable with minor audience interaction.
- Open to performers of all backgrounds, with a focus on representing underrepresented voices (queer, BIPOC, working-class)
- Special skills or unique talents that can be incorporated into a cabaret setting are highly encouraged.
- Artists with experience in immersive theatre or boundary-pushing performance styles are a plus.

Please submit a headshot, a resume (which includes your social media and/or website), and a short explanation of your performance experience. In your submission, feel free to explain why you’re drawn to this project and how you see your performance skill fitting into this bold, immersive narrative.
