Pink Banana Theatre is thrilled to announce the South Asian Youth Acting Workshop—a free, multi-day theatre program for South Asian youth in Scarborough! This workshop is your chance to dive into acting for film, TV, and stage, particularly for high school students curious about a career in performance. No experience? No problem!
Location: Birchmount Community Centre (93 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1N 3J7)
Dates: September 1, 14, 15, 21, and 22, from 11 AM – 5 PM
Who Can Apply:
- South Asian youth aged 14-29 in Toronto, especially those in Scarborough.
- We strongly encourage LGBTQ+ youth and newcomers to apply.
- Participants who can commit to the entire program.
- The program is in English, but participants can work on text in other languages.
What to Expect:
- Daily Mix: Warm-ups, skills training, and focused work on monologues, scenes, and ensemble pieces.
- Industry Insights: Learn about getting an agent, applying to acting schools, auditioning, and more.
- Instructor: Led by Ganesh Thava—an experienced Tamil-Canadian writer, director, and actor who founded Pink Banana Theatre and created the successful Toronto Fringe show Koli Kari and films such as The Orchid & the Tree and BARK.
