Position: Financial Administrator
Reports To: Executive Director
Hours: 15 hours per month
Compensation: $18,000 annually
Location: Remote – Toronto
The Financial Administrator will be responsible for generating financial reports, maintaining financial records, and formulating financial policies for Storytelling Toronto. This position’s responsibilities include working closely with the Executive Director and the Board Treasurer to support the financial health of the organization.
The ideal Financial Administrator is well-versed in accounting and financial practices and regulations, and has excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented and analytical in order to succeed.
Responsibilities include:
- Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using QuickBooks Online
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms, worker’s compensation forms, and all other government documents and receivables (including cash flow monitoring and forecasting)
- Compliance reporting (i.e. GST remittances, T3010 and other information returns as needed)
- Payroll (including source deduction remittances, year end reporting, T4/T4 Summary preparation, and reporting.
- Month end procedures, including full balance sheet reconciliation
- Financial reports, budgets and variance analysis, and preparation of the financials section of the Board package.
- Prepare tax returns
- Work with external auditors to assist them with the audit and the preparation of the audited financial statements.
- Keep up to date on current financial and accounting legislation
- Ensure compliance with all accounting and financial regulations at the company, local, provincial, and federal levels
Qualifications
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is an asset
- CPA is an asset
- 5-10+ years of experience as a bookkeeper required
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online (QBO) and SparkPay
- Solid understanding of corporate finance and data analysis
- Knowledge required for general financial reports
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (including Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets)
- Knowledge of GAAP is essential

Location: This is a remote position. The Financial Administrator can work from the Storytelling Toronto office located at 601 Christie St #173, Toronto, ON M6G 4C7, with the flexibility to work anywhere remotely. Occasional travel for company business may be required.
