Job Opportunity: Festival Producer
Position Title: Festival Producer
Reports to: Executive Director
Type of Employment: Part-time contract, 6 months (January 13th-June 28th)
Compensation: $14,000
This is a hybrid role with opportunities to work from the Storytelling Toronto office, and other locations within the Greater Toronto Area as needed. The successful candidate will commute for off-site operations including community programs, meetings and other business.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative and imaginative Festival Producer, eager and self-motivated to lead in the planning, execution, and oversight of diverse and multidisciplinary programming for Toronto’s International Storytelling Festival in June 2025. The Festival Producer will play an important role in supporting the festival planning team in the smooth execution of all festival activities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Create the Festival schedule alongside the Storytelling Toronto staff & Curators
- Support Festival planning including brainstorming ideas, researching artists and groups while keeping track of deliverables
- Oversee logistics including Festival budget, venue bookings, equipment, rentals, and artist contracts
- Collaborate with partner organizations and stakeholders to plan an implement festival events
- Work with the volunteer coordinator and Storytelling Toronto staff
- Attend meetings for events, concerts and other Festival related activities and record minutes as required
- Be on site during Festival events to supervise and evaluate the success of the concert/event
- Ensure that all content and material received from the storytellers adhere to copyright, plagiarism, and intellectual property laws as well as a storage of documents/recording legislation
- Produce a Festival evaluation report including a summary of data collected from evaluations of all Festival events
Requirements:
- 2-5 years experience as a producer or project manager
- Experience supporting large scale and/or complex projects in the arts culture sector
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational/time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively amongst the team
- Superior skills in Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.) and familiarity with Slack and Asana
