The Emerging Producers Festival is offering two FREE engaging workshops.

Finding the Beauty: Social Justice Through Story, Drama and Poetry
August 22nd – 12pm to 1:30pm

Led by Michelle Gram Giesen, this workshop uses poetry as the anchor to help investigate social justice and activism. The focus will be on how to inspire upcoming generations to both continue standing up for purposes that matter to us, but also have the confidence to embrace their own worthy causes. Participants will engage in text exploration, improvisation, movement, and writing in role to address the prompt: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.

Safe Hands: Consent and Healthy Boundaries
August 24th – 12pm to 1:30pm

Led by Theatre of the Beat’s very own Kimberlee Walker, “Safe Hands: Consent and Healthy Boundaries” is an interactive workshop that explores how we can help prevent sexual violence by unpacking societal norms that allow these injustices to occur. Using techniques from political theatre practitioner Augusto Boal, participants engage in dramatization and role play to explore topics of consent, boundaries, and power dynamics. This workshop empowers participants to become active bystanders, recognize how power affects our understanding of consent, and develop skills to address and prevent harm. Through collaborative theatrical exercises, “Safe Hands” promises to spark meaningful dialogue and equip participants with practical tools for promoting healthier relationships and communities.

Every participant must reserve their spot in the workshops through this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/…/emerging-producers…
