Derek Kwan, Artistic Director
Derek Kwan started as Artistic Director of Common Boots Theatre in January, along with Kesta Graham in her new role as Managing Producer. Common Boots has a refreshed mandate that puts diversity and inclusion at its core along with collaboration and play, and they have been reimagining protocols and procedures to make the company as welcoming to as many people as possible, from patron services, working with artists, to administration and producing. Most recently, they helped fund an ASL adaptation of Yolanda Bonnell’s Inose/Field Trip at the CoMotion Festival, and will be working on Blind/Low Vision accessibility components for The Cave in June. They are also working on an inclusive General Call for Artists to launch in May to meet more artists in the theatre community. They can’t wait to share more about exciting events in the works- so stay tuned!
