Hot Docs is thrilled to announce the return of Citizen Minutes—a short doc collection that highlights ordinary Canadians doing extraordinary things to better their communities.
In this installment, Hot Docs will commission 5–7 short docs from emerging and early career Canadian filmmakers. These stories will celebrate and inspire civic engagement—especially among young people.
Selected participants will receive funding and creative support for films, in addition to mentorship opportunities and training in a documentary film intensive lab. The completed films will premiere at the 2025 Hot Docs Festival, and will also feature an educational component, plus participation in an impact and engagement campaign!
