Alongside some incredible productions by the 2024 Paprika Festival artists (which you can learn more about here), we have a line-up of fun and FREE community programming. Drop-ins are welcome, but please RSVP if you know you’re coming so we can have a sense of numbers.

T.O. the Good Clothing Swap

Need a wardrobe refresh? Join us and T.O. The Good for a clothing swap taking at Daniels Spectrum to celebrate the opening night of #Paprika23! Help to eliminate textile waste while also finding your next look for the low low cost of a toonie. All genders, bodies, and ages welcome.

RSVP in advance and bring up to 10 pieces of clothing in excellent condition for the drop-off time of 6:30pm. Take in Paprika’s opening performance at 7:00PM and swap to your heart’s content between shows! Limited drop in spots available. $2-5 suggested donation; registration fee covers costs for T.O. the Good’s amazing volunteer team <3

T.O. the Good Swap is a monthly clothing exchange for all genders, all bodies, and all ages aiming to eliminate textile waste in Toronto and champion ethical and sustainable fashion practices globally by encouraging participation in the conscious fashion movement through swap events, advocacy, and education.

Means of Production Online Lemonade Stand

Neighbourhood Lemonade Stand

Location: Artscape Daniels Spectrum Terrace

Inspired by feminist icon Lucy from Charlie Brown, we’re doing a Neighbourhood Lemonade Stand—Paprika style! Join us on the Terrace to soak up some sun, free advice, helpful resources, and PWYC bicycle repairs! Spend the afternoon hanging out with special guests from Means of Production, Meridian Credit Union, the Ontario Arts Council, Paprika Festival, Send it Courier, and more. Conversations will be taking place around picnic tables, and folks are encouraged to listen in and share. Cycle to the theatre, have your burning money and art questions answered, and get your bike summer-ready — all while enjoying a fresh cup of pink lemonade! 🚲🍋💗

Community-read in: The Gaza Monologues

Saturday, May 18 at 1:30-3:30pm

Location: Aki Studio

Join the Paprika community in a reading of The Gaza Monologues created by ASHTAR Theatre in Palestine. Volunteers will take turns reading monologues written by youth from Gaza, telling personal stories about war and siege. This is a gathering space to highlight the voices of Palestinian youth, and to collectively process and mourn the relentless attacks upon Palestinians since October 2023. You are invited to join and listen, or respond through drawing and art. Craft supplies will be available. Cash donations for ASHTAR Theatre will be collected at the door. RSVP here.

Access Note: Printed scripts will be available to patrons in both English and Arabic. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own devices. Active Listener will be available in the Lobby during and directly following this community event.
